What data does HomeTutor store about my child?

To provide the service, we may store the following types of data:

• Homework content: photos of questions, uploaded files, text questions, and the AI’s explanations and answers.
• Audio: optional voice recordings of questions or messages, and technical data needed for text-to-speech (voice playback).
• Account data: parent email address, basic profile information, chosen language, and optional child profile names or nicknames.
• Usage data: logs about how often the app is used, error reports, and performance metrics, so we can maintain and improve the service.

We do not ask children to share unnecessary personal details, and we encourage families not to upload images that show faces or sensitive information unless strictly needed.

Why do you store homework questions and images?

We store homework content so that we can:

• Provide explanations and answers to each question,
• Allow students to revisit past sessions in their history,
• Help parents and teachers see what topics are being practised,
• Detect and fix technical issues (for example, if something was not recognised correctly).

Without storing this information for a limited time, we would not be able to offer features like history, progress tracking, or reliable customer support.

Do you use my child’s data to train or improve the AI?

We may use anonymised or pseudonymised copies of homework data to:

• Improve the quality and clarity of explanations,
• Make the AI better at recognising different types of questions,
• Test new features and safety checks.

Before using data for these purposes, we aim to remove or mask direct identifiers such as email addresses or full names where technically possible.

If you do not want your data to be used for AI improvement beyond providing the service itself, please contact us (see below) or use any in-app privacy settings that allow you to opt out. We will always respect your choice.

How long do you keep homework data?

We keep homework sessions and related content only for as long as needed to provide the service and the features you expect (such as history and progress tracking). After that, data is either deleted or anonymised.

Typical retention periods (which may be updated in our Privacy Policy) are:

• Homework sessions: kept for a limited period so students can review them (for example, several months).
• Logs and technical data: kept for a limited time to maintain and secure the service.
• Anonymised data used for AI improvement: may be kept longer, but without details that directly identify a child or parent.

Can I delete my child’s data or account?

Yes. Parents or legal guardians can:

• Request deletion of specific homework sessions, and/or
• Request deletion of the entire account and associated data.

You can usually do this from the app or by contacting us. Once we receive a valid request, we will delete or anonymise the data, except where we are required by law to keep certain records (for example, for billing or fraud prevention).

Where is my data stored and is it secure?

Data is stored on secure servers operated by trusted cloud providers. We use technical and organisational measures such as encryption in transit, access controls, and regular security updates to help protect your data from unauthorised access.

Some data may be processed or stored outside your country, but always under appropriate safeguards as described in our Privacy Policy.

Do you share data with other companies?

We do not sell personal data. We may share limited information with:
