Teach Bigger or Smaller

Game Purpose

Teach Bigger or Smaller is an interactive comparison game designed to help children develop number sense and comparison skills. Students learn to identify which number is larger using visual representations and mathematical symbols, building foundational understanding for all future math concepts.

With visual gold coin counters and clear Yes/No choices, the game makes abstract number comparison concrete and accessible. Students see the quantity each number represents, reinforcing the connection between numerals and actual amounts.

Available in 14 languages:

Difficulty Modes

Easy Mode

Number Range: 0-9 vs 0-9

Perfect for: Beginners learning number comparison with words

Example: Is 7 greater than 4?

Normal Mode

Number Range: 0-19 vs 0-19

Perfect for: Students comparing teen numbers with words

Example: Is 15 greater than 12?

Hard Mode

Number Range: 0-34 vs 0-34

Perfect for: Students ready for mathematical symbols

Example: 28 > 15 ?

Crazy Mode

Number Range: 0-49 vs 0-49

Perfect for: Advanced students comparing larger numbers

Example: 43 > 38 ?

How to Play

  1. Select your preferred difficulty level (Easy, Normal, Hard, or Crazy)
  2. Two numbers will appear with gold coin counters showing their quantities
  3. Read the comparison question ("Is [number] greater than [number]?" or "[number] > [number]?")
  4. Click "Yes" or "No" to answer the comparison question
  5. Receive immediate feedback with sound and visual cues
  6. If incorrect, the correct number will be highlighted for 4 seconds
  7. Track your progress in the stats bar at the bottom of the screen

The game automatically advances to new questions after correct answers, or after showing the correct answer for 4 seconds when incorrect.

Teaching Tips

Progressive Learning

Start with Easy mode to build confidence with single-digit comparisons using words. Gradually progress to mathematical symbols as number sense develops.

Visual Emphasis

Encourage students to count the gold coins to verify their answers. This reinforces the connection between numerals and quantities.

Comparison Language

Help students develop comparison vocabulary: "greater than," "less than," "bigger," "smaller." Practice using these terms in everyday situations.

Error Analysis

When students make mistakes, have them count the coins for both numbers. This helps them see why one number is actually bigger than the other.

Language Integration

For multilingual students or language learners, switch between languages to reinforce math vocabulary in multiple languages.
